2017: The year of the eyebrow transplant

By Alex

Over the last few years, eyebrows have been under the beauty spotlight with numerous new products released on a week basis to help you get fuller and more defined eyebrows, and that isn’t slowing down this year.

Some beauty trends hang around for a few months and are then buried and thankfully forgotten. But, the trend of fuller, bold and more defined eyebrows looks like it is here to stay.

Even with the constant release of new brow products that promise to give the appearance of bold eyebrows, some people need a little more help. At The Harley Street Hair Clinic, we can help give you eyebrows a complete makeover, that won’t wash off in the shower.

What is an eyebrow transplant?

An eyebrow transplant is very similar to a hair transplant. An eyebrow transplant is where hair is transplanted from your scalp and transplanted to your eyebrow. The transplanted hair works to either build up an eyebrow for someone with no eyebrows at all or it can be used to build on an already existing brow to create a bold and more defined look.

How does an eyebrow transplant work?

Donor hair is extracted from the back of your scalp; the hair follicles are removed from a section of the scalp that can be easily disguised. The hair follicles are then prepared under a microscope ready for the transplant.

The hair follicles are then inserted into thinning areas of the eyebrow, in any gaps (this could be due to scarring) or around the whole brow area to create natural looking eyebrows for those who have little to no eyebrow hair.

The procedure is very delicate and it requires perfect placement of the hairs to ensure your eyebrows look natural. Tiny incisions are made into your eyebrow and the hair follicles are then angled at the right direction and positioned to mimic natural growth.

Will an eyebrow transplant work for me?

Eyebrow transplants can work for many different people, they’re the perfect treatment for those who have little to no hair. If you have no eyebrows at all our FUE eyebrow transplant can work to create full natural eyebrows.

Scarring in the brow area is very common and it can lead to gaps in the brow, sometimes this can be disguised with different brow products, however, an eyebrow transplant is the perfect solution to this as we can blend the hairs to naturally fill in the gap.

Lastly, our FUE eyebrow transplant treatment works really well for those with thin eyebrows. We can use the donor hair to fill out your eyebrows creating a more bold and dramatic look.

If you’re looking for a treatment that can help your eyebrows look more defined but think a transplant might not be for you take a look at our Advanced Tricho pigmentation treatment too.

The rise in eyebrow transplants

There has been a rise in the number of clients who are getting eyebrow transplants in the last few years. It would seem that as the fashion for fuller eyebrows has grown over the last few years, so has the number of eyebrow transplants.

It has been reported that there has been a 45% increase in inquiries for eyebrow transplants since 2010. Many clients are looking to reverse the damage to their current thin brows due to years of over plucking as a teenager.
