    Five hair growth tips

When trying to grow your hair, it can seem like it’s taking years, and that it just isn’t getting any longer.

Firstly, remember that growing your hair doesn’t happen overnight and you will need to be patient. To help the process we have our top five tips on hair growth.

    1. Get regular hair cuts

Cutting your hair can feel like you’re taking a step backwards, but it can actually save you from having to cut off a great deal of your hair at a later date.

Regular haircuts can prevent split ends which can work their way up the hair leading to cutting more off. With this in mind, we recommend getting a small amount of your hair cut off regularly, to avoid damage.

    2. Do not shampoo daily

The purpose of shampoo is to wash away dirt and product build up on the scalp, but shampooing can also take away some of the vital natural oils, that work to keep hair healthy and strong.

By washing your hair too much, you risk removing the vital oils that keep the hair healthy. We recommend that when you do use shampoo; try to be gentle to your hair by only lathering up your scalp with the product.

    3. Be gentle with your hair

When brushing and caring for your hair you should be gentle. Brushing hair constantly can damage it. When brushing wet or matted hair we advised that you brush from the ends and work your way up, to avoid pulling smaller tangles into large knots at the end.

    4. Rinse with cold water after showering

This helps hair grow, but also helps hair stay healthy. The cold water lays down the outer layer of hair more smoothly; helping prevent snags, heat damage and moisture loss.

Hot water can make hair dry and brittle. Although using cold water doesn’t sounds very pleasant, you only have to do this quickly.

    5. Eat a balanced diet

Eating a diet that is rich in protein and vital vitamins such as Vitamins B and C can help to keep hair healthy and promote growth. Vitamin B is essential for keeping hair and skin healthy and can be found in oats, lentils, sunflower seeds and brown rice.

Having a diet rich in minerals such as iron and zinc can help achieve healthy and strong hair. Include red meat, egg yolk, chicken, lamb and turkey in your diet.

The essential vitamins found in food help with the health and strength of the hair, so we recommend taking vitamins supplements if you cannot get enough from your diet. There are also specialist vitamin supplements that help hair growth.

Following our top five tips will help your hair to stay healthy, allowing it to grow without breaking.
