At the Harley Street Hair Transplant Clinic, we pride ourselves on our excellent customer satisfaction, which we gain by offering our clients the leading-edge methods of hair transplantation. We continually improve our treatments to ensure we bring you the world’s best hair restoration services.

Our latest hair loss reversal techniques include the revolutionary Follicular Transfer technology, which will soon be replacing traditional methods, such as strip grafting across the board. Our pioneering work in the UK has proven the technique to be far less stressful and uncertain than strip grafting, and far more likely to succeed in restoring natural hair growth.

Why is FUE different to FUT?

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) differs from Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) in many different ways. Firstly, the new FUE method is highly technical in comparison to the more traditional hair transplant techniques.

FUT also known as strip harvesting is a procedure where hair is transplanted from areas at the back and sides of the scalp and moved to balding areas of the scalp. This is achieved by removing strips of tissue from the donor area, and then cutting the strip into individual follicular units. The follicular units are then placed into tiny incisions in the scalp.

Our new FUE hair transplants are highly technical and in comparison to other hair transplant techniques they allow us to get the maximum value out of every donor hair. Our highly experienced doctors extract single hair follicles from the donor area of the head (usually the back of the neck) with a specialised extraction instrument. The follicles are then transferred into the recipient area. Our doctors will puncture the donor area that will receive the grafts; they are then inserted at an angle, and with a specific density to resemble a natural hair pattern.

FUE hair transplants take significantly less time to heal than FUT as the procedure is less invasive. By removing only individual follicles the procedure only leaves tiny scars that are almost invisible to the naked eye. FUT, on the other hand, can leave you with a large scar at the back of your hair where the donor hair has been removed.

Our advanced FUE treatment leaves clients with almost no post-surgical pain or discomfort and our average recovery time is less than 7 days. FUT transplants remove a strip of tissue from the back of the head, making the initial healing process longer and on average it takes 10 days.
