Man in Woods with Slight receding Hairline

When it comes to hair loss things can get quite stressful, knowing what treatment will work best for you can take a lot of research in itself, but then, you have to try and decide when you’re actually ready for a hair transplant. Today we’re giving you a little direction into when you should look at getting a hair transplant.

Hair loss is different for everyone and for many, your hair loss can be quite unpredictable which can make knowing when to look into hair restoration treatments quite difficult. Today we’re telling you when we think it’s the right time to get a hair transplant.

Find the cause of your hair loss

Before you even consider getting any form of hair restoration treatment it’s important to get to the bottom of what is causing your hair loss. For some, it might be male pattern baldness – one of the most common hair loss causes. With MPB, there is no cure and a hair restoration treatment, such as a hair transplant is the only option to restore the appearance of a fuller head of hair.

However, it’s important to know that there are many causes of hair loss such as stress, a change in hormones, underlying illness and even a change in diet that are not permanent. Some causes of hair loss need no treatment at all and after a period of time your hair growth cycle will resume its normal growth phase and hair loss will stop.

Consider your age

Age is a big factor when it comes to getting a hair transplant. We get a lot of younger clients visit us wanting a hair transplant for their ‘receding hairline’, however, in some cases, we do not believe they’re ready for a hair transplant.

From the age of around 17 your hairline might start to change slightly and change shape, this is known as a maturing hair line and it is completely normal and does not mean you have male pattern baldness. Your hairline will change from having slightly rounded edges and being quite low, to becoming slightly higher up and less defined.

At a young age your hair loss pattern can be quite unpredictable and because of this, it can become difficult to ensure a hair transplant will be future proof. Due to this, we advise all of our younger clients to keep a photo diary of their hair. This allows you to see how much your hair has changed over a longer period of time and then decide if you think a hair transplant is a route for you.

Visit a hair loss clinic

If you believe your hair loss may be due to an issue such as male pattern baldness and feel that hair restoration treatment is the right path to go down we think it’s best to visit a clinic. Spend some time researching different clinics until you find a clinic you think is right for you and book in for a consultation.

You’ll be able to get the most accurate and personalised information for your hair by going for a consultation. During a consultation, a hair loss specialist will be able to look into the cause of your hair loss and then discuss a treatment they think would work best, as well as go into a full breakdown of costs. Trying to get all of this information online can be quite difficult as not all hair transplants are the same and they can vary quite a lot from patient to patient.

If you would like more information on the treatments offered at the Harley Street Hair Clinic, please contact us today for a no obligation consultation.
