How to cope with hair loss

Hair loss is an issue that can affect everyone, at some time in your life you will probably experience hair loss whether it’s temporary or permanent it can still be a worry.

Dealing with hair loss for some men can be quite upsetting and will present you with some challenges about what to do and how to deal with it. Today, we’re going to give you a few tips that will help you deal with your hair loss.

The Cause Of Hair Loss

If you’ve noticed you’re losing your hair and feel as if it is becoming an issue the first thing to do is see a hair loss specialist, or your GP. It is important to remember that hair loss can happen for a number of different reasons.

Some causes of hair loss can be related to issues such as stress, a hormone imbalance and even dietary changes – these types of hair loss are not permeant and small adjustments can be made to stop the hair loss. If your hair loss is due to a factor such as the above, it is nothing to worry about as it can easily be stopped.

Other causes of hair loss, such as male pattern baldness do not have a cure, and this is where different hair restoration treatments can help to not only restore your hair, but also in some cases your confidence and happiness.

Once you’ve found out the cause behind your hair loss you’ll feel much better as you can take the next step in finding a treatment that could help.

Talk To Friends

Look around you the next time you’re out with your group of friends, or even when you’re on your way to work tomorrow. Hair loss is something that can affect everyone and the chances are someone you know is going through the same as you.

Talking to a friend about your hair loss and how you’re feeling could make you feel better as you’ll realise hair loss is normal and people you know are dealing with the same issues and the same thoughts that you are. Not only that, they might be able to help you with a few tips that they’ve used to disguise their hair loss or even recommend different treatments.

Try To Accept That You’re Losing Your Hair

First of all, you need to accept that you’re losing your hair in order to try and deal with it. According to a study, nearly half of all men are losing their hair before the age of 50, so you’re not the only person that is suffering from hair loss.

Unfortunately, hair loss is not something you have a lot of control over, there is no cure to male pattern baldness and you won’t be able to completely stop it from happening. With this in mind, it’s important to just accept that hair loss will happen to you, but remember, you are not alone.

Try A New Hairstyle

When you’re in the early days of your hair loss, looking at new hairstyles can help towards disguising the hair loss – sometimes, your current hairstyle might be making the hair loss a little more obvious to the eye. Taking the hair shorter on the back and sides of the scalp can help to minimise the appearance of thinning hair on the top of the scalp.

Some people think that growing the hair as long as possible with help to disguise hair loss, but, sometimes having longer hair can just make thinning areas look more obvious. Maybe take a trip to your local barber and ask for their opinion on a haircut and style that will work for you.

Grow A Beard

Once you’ve got your hairstyle down and you’re happy with that you can also try growing a little facial hair, a well-groomed and neat beard can sometimes be such a big change it can completely take the focus away from your hair. Not only will the upkeep distract you, but it might distract others too.

Look Around You

Take a look around the next time you’re out with a group of men, or even just take a look at the men on your morning commute. Did you notice how many of them are thinning on top too? You’re not alone, hair loss is completely normal and it probably isn’t as notable as you think it might be.

Consider Hair Restoration Procedures

If you’ve tried everything and your hair loss is still bothering you, that is fine too. There are a number of different hair restoration treatments such as an FUE hair transplant and ATP that can work towards restoring the appearance of a full head of hair.
