Is your hair loss the reason for your lack of dates?

By Alex

Tinder user Richard King, 31, recently took to the dating app to experiment if having more hair could actually land you more dates. King noticed he was getting much more attention from women after undergoing a hair transplant, spurring the experiment.

King created two different profiles, with two different photos, one before his hair transplant and one after.

75% increase in Tinder matches

The experiment was pretty simple, King created two profiles of himself on Tinder: one before his hair transplant, and one after. King wanted to see if having a full head of hair could improve his dating game. He ran the two profiles simultaneously, with the only difference being the photographs to ensure the results were accurate.

The first profile showed a profile photo of him with a high receding hairline, something that was affecting his self-esteem and overall confidence pushing him towards his hair transplant surgery.

On the pre-transplant profile King received 116 matches from women on Tinder. Although this is already a pretty impressive number, his second profile exceeded this by 75%. King’s post transplant profile landed him 203 matches just because of his fuller head of hair.

Is surgery for men becoming more popular

The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons revealed that the number of men undergoing surgery has more than doubled in the last decade. The numbers have risen from 2,440 in 2005, to 4,614 in 2015.

King once believed that hair transplants were for older man or rich footballers, but he got to the point where his thinning hair was affecting his self-esteem and confidence, pushing him towards hair loss surgery.

The experiment was carried out over a 10-day period and the 75% increase in matches did not surprise King. Comparing it to how men may choose blonds over brunettes, he said he understands that women are more likely to be attracted to a man with a fuller hair of hair.

Am I suitable for a hair transplant?

During the social experiment King mentioned that hair transplants are often associated with 50-somthing men in a bid to look younger. With an increase in young men losing their hair it is no surprise that those of a younger audience are starting to consider the prospects of hair transplant surgery.
