Hair loss is a common problem that most people will face at some point in their life. There are a variety of different causes of hair loss and many different factors play a part in when and how you lose your hair.

FUE hair transplant

A follicular unit extraction (FUE) is a type of hair transplant offered at the Harley Street Hair Clinic. The revolutionary procedure leaves you with the most natural and realistic hair restoration results possible.

A highly experienced doctor extracts hair follicles from areas of the head with fuller hair, usually found at the back and sides of the head with the use of a specialised extraction instrument.

The hair follicles are then prepared under a microscope and are ready to be transplanted. The follicles are transferred to the area of the head with little to no hair. With the use of a specialist micro surgical needle, your doctor will puncture the scalp and insert each hair graft is inserted at an angle with a specific density to resemble a natural and realistic hair pattern.

You can see how and FUE hair transplant works, here.

FUE hair transplants are perfect for those who have thinning hair or a receding hairline, which they wish to build up. The perfect candidate for an FUE hair transplant will have a vast amount of hair around the side and back of their head.

FUT hair transplant

Similar to an FUE hair transplant procedure, follicular unit transaction works by transplanting hair from one area of the scalp to another. The main difference is how the follicles are prepared.

With a FUT hair transplant instead of removing and transplanting individual hair follicles and transplanting them a strip of hair is removed from the back of the head. The strip is then cut into follicles and prepared for the transplant.

This method is slightly older than the FUE method and can leave the patient with scarring at the back of the head, which can lead to your results looking unnatural.

ATP (Advanced Tricho Pigmentation)

Advanced Tricho Pigmentation is a great procedure for those who can’t have, or do not want a hair transplant. ATP is a treatment that works to mimic the appearance of hair follicles and works in a similar way to a tattoo.

The procedure was built from the ground at the Harley Street Hair Clinic up to mimic the appearance of hair. ATP works by applying natural pigments to either the scalp or brow area. Our team of experts work to delicately replicate the appearance of hair follicles on the scalp or natural hair strokes on the brow area to replicate each individual brow hair.

Our specialised process deposits tiny amounts of pigment to the recipient area and once applied you’ll see realistic results that replicate real hair.

Advanced Tricho Pigmentation at the Harley Street Hair Clinic is the perfect procedure for someone who has thinning hair and wants the appearance of fullness. The treatment is also perfect for those with little to no hair who want to achieve the appearance of a closely shaven head.

SMP (Scalp Micro Pigmentation)

Scalp Micro Pigmentation often referred to SMP is a similar treatment to ATP, although the procedure is not as advanced. This procedure is not offered at the Harley Street Hair Clinic.

SMP is a medical hairline tattoo and is an ink delivery system that has been modified to replicate the appearance of hair. Natural pigments are applied at the epidermal level of the scalp to replicate the appearance of hair follicles or strands.

SMP differs from ATP as SMP is a treatment that has been modified to replicate hair, ATP, however, is a more advanced system. ATP was designed to replicate the appearance of hair from the ground up and is an advanced technique.
