Gordan Ramsey Hair transplant

Hair transplants are more common than you might think, especially in celebrity circles. Even celeb chefs like Gordon Ramsay have splurged on a hair transplant to help restore their youthful appearance.

Gordon Ramsay: Who is the Celebrity Chef?

Gordon Ramsay is a highly influential celebrity chef who is best known for his incredible skills as a chef, as well as his fiery temper on his TV shows. Gordon Ramsay rose to fame in 1999 with Boiling Point and later solidified a name for himself with his major TV hit Kitchen Nightmares. On top of being the star of well-rated shows, Ramsay has also earned himself seventeen Michelin stars over the years. To this day, Gordon Ramsay is often seen on the TV screen cooking incredible meals and shouting at chefs to get them right. The world of cooking is no easy business!

Did Gordon Ramsay Get a Hair Transplant?

Gordon Ramsay’s hair transplant has been the topic of discussion for many years. It’s clear that – yes, Ramsay did get a hair transplant, most likely along the hairline where he experienced minor hair thinning/loss. It’s even speculated that he had a second hair transplant, which is why his hair looks so thick and full these days.

What Type of Hair Transplant Did Gordon Ramsay Get?

Gordon Ramsay – like many others – opted for the FUE hair transplant, which stands for Follicular Unit Extraction. This type of transplant is popular thanks to its natural results and fast recovery time. It leaves no scarring, as it takes individual hair follicles from the scalp and then places them into the appropriate area. While there might be some minor side effects, the procedure is very safe and doesn’t last long. In fact, most patients can go home the same day. Results can then be seen after around three months post-surgery.

Why Did Gordon Ramsay Get a Hair Transplant?

Like most celebrities, Gordon Ramsay cares about his appearance as he is often in the limelight. He is front and centre of his major-hit shows, including Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares, which are both still running to this day. With his face on the screen so often, it makes sense that he puts effort into the way he looks!

Did Something Go Wrong?

After Gordon Ramsay’s hair transplant, there was some speculation that he experienced adverse side effects. While Gordon Ramsay’s hair and scalp seemed to look okay, his face was suddenly swollen. Many people assumed this was because of some side effects from his FUE hair transplant, but Gordon Ramsay came out with the real reason behind the swelling,

“I had petrol doused, gasoline poured all over my hair and I had a horrific infection. It certainly didn’t cause my hair to be falling out.”

He later went on to say, “I was in Napa for Christmas literally two weeks after the shoot and went horseback riding with the kids and had a horrendous allergic reaction to the horses, combined with the problems I had with my scalp, so it was just a hair nightmare.”

So, it seems that the hair transplant wasn’t the issue. Instead, Ramsay went through an incident while filming a TV show. Thankfully, he recovered quickly, and Gordon Ramsay’s hair and face look as great as ever!

Can Hair Transplants Cause Swelling?

FUE hair transplants do have some common side effects, with minor swelling around the forehead and eyelids being one of them, also called oedema. This side effect goes away within a few days and doesn’t cause any lasting harm. Some people might take a few days off work due to this side effect.

It’s important to remember that hair transplants have come a long way since the days of hair plugs. They are safe, effective surgeries that leave minimal scarring, and you don’t have to stay in the clinic overnight. If you have any concerns about side effects, you can always go through them during a consultation with a hair transplant surgeon.

What Caused Gordon Ramsay’s Hair Loss?

Gordon Ramsay isn’t known for his calm demeanour. From his shouting on Hell’s Kitchen to his publicised family feuds, it’s clear that Ramsay doesn’t always have the healthiest stress levels. However, that might not be to blame – not when you consider just how common male pattern baldness is.

Most men experience hair loss or thinning at some point, and Gordon Ramsay was one of many. Most of the time, this hair loss is down to genetics and male sex hormones. The result is a receding hairline and thinning or balding crown.

A Timeline of Gordon Ramsay’s Hairline

Unlike other celebrities who have had cosmetic surgery, Gordon Ramsay’s hair transplant isn’t obvious. He hasn’t experienced extreme hair loss or thinning in his career. However, if you look closely over the years, you can see some changes.

2000s

The 2000s were the height of Gordon Ramsay’s fame. While he was more known for his success as a chef and fiery personality, many people also noticed his luscious golden locks. Throughout his time on TV, Gordon Ramsay kept his hair fairly long and full – in fact, most people wouldn’t have realised he was experiencing hair loss during this time. He had a slight widow’s peak as time went on, but it was never anything drastic. Still, it was enough for the celebrity chef to want to get a hair transplant to restore his confidence.

2011 (the surgery)

It is known that Gordon Ramsay had his hair transplant in 2011 when photographs of him leaving an LA hair restoration clinic were captured. In these photos, Ramsay wore a surgical cap to protect the scalp post-surgery.

2011 (post-surgery)

Gordon Ramsay’s hair in 2011-2012 shows blonde, full locks, indicating that the hair transplant was successful. However, this wasn’t the end of his hair restoration journey.

2014

While it hasn’t been confirmed, people speculated that Gordon Ramsay’s hair underwent another transplant in 2014, when he could be seen sporting a fade haircut with a fringe. While he could have just wanted a new look, the shaved area indicates that he had hair follicles taken from there and that it acted as the donor area.

2014 to Today

Nowadays, Gordon Ramsay can be seen sporting a very youthful look thanks to his full head of blonde locks. He has no signs of hair loss – at nearly 60 years old, he has hair that even some 20-year-olds would be envious of!

How Much Did Gordon Ramsay Pay for His Hair Transplant?

As Gordon Ramsay hasn’t gone public with information about his hair transplant, we can only guess how much it cost. Gordon Ramsay has never experienced extreme balding. Despite these, it’s still estimated he spent upwards of £30k at the clinic for his new hair.

Has Gordon Ramsay Had Any Other Cosmetic Procedures?

While Gordon Ramsay hasn’t openly stated that he’s had other cosmetic surgery, it’s clear by looking at his face that he has had some work done. Most cosmetic surgeons believe he’s had a new set of teeth and some Botox injections, which are quite obvious when you look at a before and after of Gordon Ramsay’s forehead (in the previous photo, his expression lines are very deep). It also looks like he may have had some filler in his chin to keep it as defined as ever.

What Other Celebrities Have Undergone Hair Restoration?

Gordon Ramsay’s hair transplant is not the only inspiration you can find from celebs, as many other stars have pursued this surgery to restore their locks. One good example is James Nesbitt, who is estimated to have had up to six hair transplants to get his hair growth back. Another is Wayne Rooney, who started losing his hair quite young but now has plenty of growth. Other famous faces who have had hair transplants include Louis Walsh, John Travolta, Matthew McConaughey, and Jude Law.
