Shampoo for thinning hair: Does it work?

By Alex

There are a huge line of products that claim to aid thinning hair, so we have looked into thickening shampoos to see if they actually work, or if it is a waste of time and money.

Do thickening shampoo’s work?

If you suffer with thin hair you have probably tried a large range of thickening hair products, and found that some work and some don’t. However these products don’t actually fix thinning hair, as they can’t promote the growth of new hairs.

A thickening shampoo or conditioner can make hair appear thicker; however this is only a temporary mask. Many of these products aim to change the texture to enhance how your hair looks. These products simply fake the appearance of thicker hair.

In summary, thickening shampoos do work to an extent. The shampoo will make the hair appear thicker for a period of time. But in reality, as soon as you stop using the product there will be no visible difference in your hair.

The science of hair growth

In order to get thicker hair you have to boost the molecules that make your hair grow naturally, and this can’t be done by so any shampoo or conditioner.

Thinning hair is a natural process that can come either with age, or for a variety of other reasons including stress and illness.
