How to prepare for your hair transplant

Preparing for your hair transplant is a very important part of the whole process. Today we’ll be walking you through the best way to prepare for your hair transplant right the way from researching clinics online to how to prepare on the morning of your surgery.

Do your research

Research is one of the most important parts of preparing for your hair transplant, it’s the first stage you should consider when thinking about getting any form of hair restoration treatment. Research is key to finding the right treatment for you and also finding the right clinic.

We think it’s important to start with research about hair restoration in general, take a look at the procedures on offer such as FUE hair transplants, and then decide what treatment you think is for you.

Once you’ve worked out what treatment you think you want it’s time to research clinics, maybe start with clinics close to home and then branch out. It’s important to look for clinics that offer the treatment you want, have a good reputation, showcase their work and are easy to contact should you need to do so.

Book in a consultation

Booking consultations is a great way to get a feel for the clinic you’re thinking of going with and it will also allow you to ask any questions you might have which will prepare you for your procedure. We think it’s a good idea to book consultations at a few different clinics, this way you’ll be able to get a feel for each clinic and decide which one you feel most comfortable in.

At the Harley Street Hair Clinic, we take the consultation as a chance for us to get to know you and for you to get to know your doctor. We’ll assess your hair loss and work with you to decide what treatment is best for you as well as take the time to answer any questions you might have.

How to prepare for surgery day

We often get asked what’s the best way to prepare for your surgery day and what to do in the run up to your hair transplant. There isn’t much you’ll need to do before your hair transplant, it’s important to remember to book transport and accommodation if you need it. If you would like recommendations of where to stay near our clinic this is something we can help you with.

Although we try to make your time with us as comfortable as possible by offering you a range of films and music you can watch during your transplant you could also consider loading your own iPad with films that you might want to watch throughout your treatment.

The morning of your transplant

We like our clients to arrive at the clinic with at least half an hour before the time of their appointment, this is so that we can get you settled and ready for your procedure. As mentioned above we do provide entertainment for you throughout your procedure and lunch is provided. There really isn’t a lot you have to do in order to prepare for your hair transplant, as we want it to be a stress-free experience we take care of everything so that you don’t have to.
