The hair restoration journey

When it comes to hair restoration it can seem quite overwhelming at first, deciding what treatment to get, where to go and then thinking about what actually happens. To put you at ease we’re going through the whole hair restoration journey, from consultation to your year follow up appointment.

Noticing Your Hair Loss

The first part of the hair restoration journey seems like an obvious one, but it all starts with noticing your hair loss. There will come a point in everyone’s life when they realise that their hair has started to recede or thin in certain areas. When you first notice this you can feel a rush of panic that you’re going to be bald by the end of the year, but that isn’t always the case.

We see a great deal of younger clients visit the clinic thinking they need a hair transplant because of their receding hairline when it’s actually just a maturing hairline. When you first notice your hair loss it’s a good idea to look at photos for the last couple of year, or start taking photos over the next few months to see how severe your hair loss is. This will help you decide if you feel you need to look into treatments, and can also help your clinic if you take the photos to a consultation.

Finding Your Perfect Clinic

If you feel that your hair loss has progressed quite significantly it’s time to start researching clinics. Finding the perfect clinic is quite tricky and this is why a lot of research is key at the beginning of your hair restoration journey.

We think the most important things to research when looking for a hair transplant clinic are; the location – is it easy for you to get to and return too, do they offer a consultation process, how much experience do the doctors have, do they specialise in any treatments, do they have before and after photos, and most importantly, do they offer the treatment you want?

Attending A Consultaion

Once you’ve decided on a clinic, or even if there are a few you want to see you’ll book your consultation. Consultations are one of the most important parts of the hair restoration journey. At The Harley Street Hair Clinic, we take the consultation as a chance to really get to know our client, it allows us to assess their hair loss, consider future hair loss and work with them to find the perfect treatment.

The consultation is also the perfect chance to ask your chosen clinic any questions you might have about the procedure, aftercare or anything else you want to know. It’s also a great time to ask for any case studies the clinic might have (if they’re not already available on their website for you).

Hair Transplant Treatment

Next up is the most exciting and in some cases nerve racking part of your hair restoration journey, the treatment. Regardless of what treatment you’ve chosen, weather it is an FUE hair transplant or Advanced Tricho Pigmentation you’ll be greeted by your doctor who will explain your procedure to you, and tell you how long you’ll be there for.

If you’re getting a hair transplant in most cases it will be a full day – two day procedure, depending on how much hair you’re having transplanted. Treatments such as advanced trico pigmentation are much shorter and can be completed within a few hours.

The Aftercare Process

Once your treatment is finished your doctor will discuss your aftercare process, again, depending on what treatment you’re having this will differ. However, FUE hair transplants and advanced trico pigmentation are minimally invasive and the aftercare process is fairly straightforward.

You’ll be given an aftercare pack that includes and medication and specialist shampoo that is required. If you have any questions about your aftercare this is the time your doctor will be able to explain anything to you.

Follow Up Appointment

You’ll start to see results from a hair transplant after around three months and you’ll see your full results at around six months after your procedure. At the Harley Street Hair Clinic, we like to invite our clients into the clinic after around one year to take a look at their results and to see if they’re happy and to see how they’re getting on.

If you have any questions about our hair restoration treatments please contact us today for a no obligation consultation.
