We get a lot of questions about our hair restoration procedures and how they work and who they’re best suited too. Our FUE hair transplants can produce the most natural and realistic results possible, sometimes, it can be quite hard to believe how good the results actually are, which is why a lot of people ask if a hair transplant actually works.
Today, we’re going to go into detail about our procedure to show you that yes, a hair transplant does actually work.
How does a hair transplant work?
At the Harley Street Hair Clinic, one of our highly skilled doctors will meet you for your consultation to discuss exactly what you want from your hair transplant and to ensure you’re a good candidate. Once this is all decided, you’ll return to the clinic for your treatment.
During an FUE hair transplant, your doctor will extract hair follicles from the back and side of the scalp, which is referred to as the donor area. This is done so with the use of a specialist extraction instrument, once all of the hair follicles are removed they are prepared under a microscope ready to be transplanted to an area of the scalp where the hair is thinning.
The hair is transplanted to the recipient area, this is usually around the hairline or at the top of the scalp. The hair follicles are placed in the scalp at an angle and density to mimic your natural hair growth pattern – this is one of the ways we ensure our hair transplants look both natural and realistic for every patient.
Will results look natural?
Using the FUE hair transplant method and also using experienced doctors is how we always achieve natural looking results. By transplanting single grafts of hair we’re able to deliver a more natural looking result with minimal scarring. This gives patients a seamless hair transplant that is almost unidentifiable to the naked eye.
Will the hair reject in the future?
No, it’s very unlikely that your hair will reject in the future. At the Haley Street Hair Clinic, we only transplant donor hair from your own scalp – this minimises the chance of the hair rejecting. It’s important to remember that the hair follicles are transplanted from an area of the scalp where the hair is known to have a longer lifespan, once the hair is transplanted it still has the characteristics of the hair follicles pre-transplant. This ensures the hair follicles continue to grow as they would have before the transplant.
But, I’ve seen bad hair transplants in the past?
Sometimes you might see a hair transplant that doesn’t look quite seamless and natural, which leads people to think that hair transplants don’t actually work. It’s important to do your research before a hair transplant, see here for tips on how to avoid a bad hair transplant. If you do your research and visit a reputable clinic, you’ll end up with a hair transplant that not only works but looks natural and realistic.
